The Life and Times of Jake McBride
I was born a fat white child in the hills of Virginia....and everything has changed...
well, almost everything...I am still white. I have been doing radio for nearly 17 years,
and I can honestly say that it has been a rewarding career choice.....
The radio deal started in Anniston Alabama at a small...and I mean small Southern Gospel
station....blasting all of 5,000 watts...we were a powerhouse! I then made the leap to Alabama 100
...a HUGE and I mean HUGE country station in the metropolis of Anniston, Alabama......as a matter
of fact by the time I left that station I had moved all the way to GENERAL MANAGER....
but I was the only one there ....so I was the Morning Show guy and the janitor!!
I moved to Kix Country in the spring of 2001 and fell in love with the area....the history...the people....
the activities all convinced me that I had found my new home.....face it, living in Alabama among Crimson
Tide fans was more like a sentence for a bad crime....leaving that "neck of the woods" was a pleasure.
I soon feel in love with Kix Country!

Believe it or not we do....Woody lives in Elkins and I reside in Prairie Grove.
This is the view that I have for nearly six hours everyday.....How lucky am I ?? Does anyone automatically think "Home Improvement"?

Odds and Ends....Things that you may not have known
- I traveled the southeastern United States for several years wholesaling ladies shoes!
- I was a buyer of mens and boys clothing as well as mens and ladies, and childrens shoes for Belk, I actually bought for TWO stores in Savannah, Georgia for a year or so prior to going on the road.....
- I sang in a gospel quartet...actually three quartets for a total of almost 10 years....
- In between radio stints I ran a southern gospel music recording studio that was the recording home of Gold City !!
